Perseid meteor shower

The peak of "Perseid meteor shower" is around the corner! You are cordially invited to join the Perseids Watch on 13th August, at Gunung Ledang,Tangkak. As for this specific trip, we are not only there to watch meteor shower but to sight for more deep-sky objects in summersky. Before midnight, it's the highlight of Jupiter while the red planet, Mars will appear in Aries after 2am.

Perseid meteor shower" is predicted to be rich in August this year. According to the past calculation and prediction, the ZHR (zenithal hourly rate) of Perseids" will peak up to 70 meteors. For the past 20 years, it never disappoints the global meteor watchers and this year of "Perseids" show is predicted to peak up to 100 meteors within an hour averagely.This event is specifically designed and hosted because of this nature phenomenon that can be easily carried out and experienced by members of public as well as our enthusiasts. What we need is a wide field environment of which is safe to access and without light pollution. Apart from the environment, the First Quarter Moon will set at 1am that cause no hassle in watching perseids.

On the 13th night, a talk concerning how to hunt for sky treasures with a small telescope by own effort, especially a newtonian reflector with aperture at 4-inch or more. The treasures are star clusters, nebulae and galaxies, such as Lagoon Nebula (M8) at Sagittarius, Butterfly Cluster (M6) and Ptolemy's Cluster (M7) at Scorpius and Coathanger Cluster at Sagitta as well. Besides, Great Red Spot (a cloud spot looks like an big eye) Transit of Jupiter is visible when nightfalls. The red planet, Mars will also appear after 2am and which would reveal details by a decent magnification for its polar ice cap.
